Boys just want to have fun...

Okay, so maybe it the song says 'girls', but that doesn't mean boys want to be dull and boring, no sir-ree!

Now that Jellybean's nursery is finally finished, I have been thinking about what I'd like to do for his 'Big Boys Room'. I'm also in the midst of finishing my Diploma of Interior Design, so of course my ideas are pushing the envelope!

What I love about the following images are the originality of the use of colours. Especially the use of orange! I have historically been a little shy of the colour orange, but have recently started introducing the shade into Jellybean's room. It is currently aqua and blue, but with the touches of orange it is being taken to another level.

I also love the idea of upcycling and repurposing items for purposes completely different to what they were intended for! I think that is what was so great about Dale and Sophie's house on 'The Block', they had such original and great ideas!

I guess that is the beauty of the online world, especially Pinterest...
It introduces these ideas to the rest of the world!

A Headboard Alternative

If you don't have a headboard for your bed & are stuck for an idea of how to achieve the look of a headboard without the expense, here are some great alternatives for you.

Picture frames

I like this idea for a couple of reasons:
The photographs/images can be changed seasonally or with the purchase of new bed linen.
Therefore you can change the complete look/feel/colour scheme of a room relatively simply.
Frames can be attached to the wall using the new 3M adhesives which are good for renters.
I use these in my home because I change things around so often.

European Pillows

Propping european pillows against the wall is possibly the simplest way to create height
at the end of the bed.

Using Shutters/Doors
Above and below. Cost effective and simple. This also gives some
great natural textures & finish to the room.

Canvas Artwork

Individual, simple & easy to create.
Co-ordinate with your bed linen.
Brilliant for a teenage girls room as they can personalise their space with
their own handiwork.

So, there's just a few ideas but really...
The sky's the limit in terms of what you can create with just a little imagination.

{COACH COLOR TAG} Canary

"Coach is celebrating our colorful new Legacy Collection with a new project called ColorTag. Our mission: to spread more than 70 years of Coach color across the internet. To get started, choose a Coach color below and tag it in a blog post that invites your reader to ColorTag their own favorites. Tell your readers to watch for special surprises whenever they visit your ColorTag. We’ll be hiding Coach Gift Cards across all the sites that participate."

I don't think it will come as much of a surprise that I am in looooove with yellow at the moment, I almost jumped up and down in ecstatic expectation when I realised that Country Road's new HOME collection has loads of yellow!
