As you are all probably more than aware (especially because I've been bombarding you with it for the last week!) Today is book club day! YAY!
So.... Have you read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows? What did you think? Would you recommend it? And will you see the movie?? What did you like? What did you dislike? So what I liked... I liked that it was another Harry Potter book, I've found the entire series to be very spell-binding! I fell in love with the very first book, the imagination behind it was entrancing. I loved the characters (still). I loved that I started to feel sorry for the Malfoys, despite their misgivings.
What I disliked... the storyline... it was a bit 'frou-frou' and in parts a bit boring, it was a little long-winded in the descriptive. I hadn't noticed that in any of Rowlings' previous titles... maybe it was because I went so long 'between drinks'? I also hated the fact that so many of my favourite characters had to get hurt to achieve the end result. The series has changed from a fun book to read to a gory action flick with loads of action scenes and killing.
I was hugely disappointed by the ending.. it should've been left open so we'd be gagging for more!! And maybe the suggestion of a new 'Bad Guy' Voldemort is soo passe!
Will I watch the movie, definitely BUT only because it's 'Harry Potter'!!
That is this month's Book Club... short and sweet, but with the movie due out shortly we wouldn't want to be putting too many spoilers up to ruin it for those of you intending to watch it without reading the book first!!

Just to be boring, I agree with ALL your points about the 'Deathly Hallows'. It went on un nessarily long, its was very distressing that so many people I really was attached to got bumped off, and it seemed almost too stylised. I've read that JK Rowling was trying for a different stlye of story-telling, the quest thing, you know, but it was a bit betwixt and between.
It does wind things up pretty well though, and I certainly am glad I read it- in fact I enjoyed it, for all my criticism. Perhaps its just after such a long series even JK was wanting to get done with Harry? Certainly it wasn't my favourite and it wasn't the most engrossing, but sure I liked it well enough!
I agree Heckety!! It does wind things up well, I didn't realise she'd been trying for a different type of writing. That's interesting, and makes it a little more interesting, although why she had to try that with her final Harry Potter and not a completely different story is beyond me.

Just a little book vs. movie comparison here but I was sorely, SORELY, disappointed by the movie "Bill Weasley" after we had pretty much continuously heard how incredibly good looking he was through all the books. BIG let down I tell ya!
