Clue Five - 'How long does one full revolution take on a Hibiscus Tide Clock?'

"Here at Hibiscus we own a fairly simple philosophy. Dream. Believe. Create. My name is Kirstee Griffiths and I am an up-cycler extraordinaire... I see potential in the pieces of yesteryear, as as the magic happens in the Hibiscus workshop they transform into something altogether alive again.

Each piece is totally unique, and welcomed are the scraps of vintage fabric found in Gran's linen cupboard to complete custom orders that can take your memories through the ages. I use a lot of fabric decoupage, an emerging technique resulting in amazingly vibrant yet very hard wearing pieces. Having children of my own I understand not only the resilience their furniture needs, but also the funk that is so hard to come by to create beautiful spaces.

I enjoy expanding my range and creative up-cycling with the newest edition to the Hibiscus Family - both tide clocks and fabric decoupage wall clocks. I am big in to the quirk and pops of colour for 2014, and these encompass not only that, but also my roots for all things having new life, which is why I chose LP records as a base for my wall clocks, and driftwood or vintage oars for the tide variety.

From vintage to retro to now, it's all here at Hibiscus."

"Now that both my children are at school, HarperRose is my new baby!

Pondering what to do with my spare time I now had, I decided to take the leap and start making skirts, headbands and hair clips. After a lot of success with these, I now make cushions, wall art and bunting. Each item is made with time and love and it has been a real joy creating some gorgeous pieces. Using my Mother's sewing machine... it takes me back to the days when I was a little girl watching Mum make clothes for me. Now my daughter does the same and it is a great joy seeing my work happily worn.

The name HarperRose has quite a lot of meaning for me. Rose being a name carried through generations and Harper being a tiny little village in the Canterbury High Country where my husband is from. It is our favourite place to go as a family and the two names seemed perfect to entwine into one.

"I'm Hayley Pearce - the designer and printmaker behind the scenes at The Art Room. I am a Graphic Designer (BDes) by trade, but since having two gorgeous girls I've worked hard establishing The Art Room so I can now work from home. My first prints were paper prints for children's rooms (The 'Circus Series'). Since then I've added all kinds of products to compliment the paper prints. Pillowcases are hugely popular, especially over the wedding season. Cushions are a close second. My artwork is usually hand drawn, cut out, re-drawn, twinked out, cellotaped together, scanned in, cleaned up and mucked around with in Photoshop before heading to the Print Room (Laundry/Studio under the house). I then make the film work, fill screens and print to my heart's content. My studio is in Beach Haven, Auckland and all of my screen-printed works are hand printed by me.
