I'm an Aunty!!!

Sorry for my absence it has been a crazy week here in Hazel's world!! As you are probably more than aware on Sunday I became a wife! So I have been spending a lot of time with my family who are visiting from interstate and overseas. As well as enjoying being with my new husband, I'm just glad we decided to hold off on taking a honeymoon, after all this is over I am going to need a holiday.

Amongst it all I have found out that I recently became an Aunty! Isobella Rose was born on 21st September and was two months premature. I wasn't told straight away because they were worried the tiny wee baby wouldn't make it, and they didn't want to ruin my wedding. So I thought I'd share the following image with you...
Isn't she gorgeous! My sister was diagnosed on 21st September with preclamasia and was taken directly to hospital to undertake an emergency C-Section. She spent the next few days in ICU and in total died three times. She continues to suffer seizures. My Mum has told me that she has Eclamsia. Isobella only weighed 1.01kg when she was born, and has to stay at a major hospital until her weight reaches 1.5kg.

The reason I am sharing this information with you, is I am hoping you will be able to shed some light on this for me. My Mum and my sister are both still spending a lot of time at the hospital and at this point I haven't been able to talk to them. But if any of you have experience with this, could you please help me understand more about preclamasia and eclamasia.

I promise to return to blogging more in the next couple of days!

Miss you all!

Hi Hazel,

One of my girlfriends also gave birth 2 months prem, because of pre-eclampsia. I don't know a lot about it, but I did read up a bit and found this site helpful:

She went on to have a little girl who is now a healthy 2 1/2 year old, and just a couple of weeks ago had a baby boy (full term, natural birth) which was really wonderful for them.

Wishing all the best for you sister and her baby and a huge Congratulations! to you. I hope you had a wonderful wedding day :)

Congrats on your wedding and on being an Aunt. I don't have any experience with this to share but they are able to save so many babies now that are born premature. I am sorry that you and your family have so much stress and worry right now. I will keep you in my prayers. xo

Hugs to you, your family and the new little one... pre-e and eclampsia are a combination of high blood pressure (hypertension) and protein in urine - uncontrolled, it is fatal to mom and baby, and many treatments require that the baby arrive early so that the mother can get treatment...

I hope that things go well and the dr can help your sister get things under control!
